R1AA Updates: R1AA Meet preparations in full swing

The Department of Education Regional Office and Schools Division Office of San Carlos City as host division, in partnership with the local government are in full swing with extensive preparations for the conduct of the Region 1 Athletic Association (R1AA) Meet on May 14-19, 2023.

A consultative conference was conducted by the host division and regional office with all the Schools Governance and Operations Division chiefs, sports officers, designated tournament managers, and events coordinators at the Speaker Eugenio Perez National Agricultural School (SEPNAS) Perez Hall on April 13.

“Many of our learner-athletes are building their future on their dreams to become professional athletes, and this will start with the Palarong Pambansa. Let us not frustrate them by delivering our tasks rightfully and competently,” Regional Director Tolentino G. Aquino said in his message during the said meeting.

He added that preparations are anchored on putting in place all precautionary measures to make the conduct of the R1AA secure for all, especially for the participating learner-athletes.

Also, Assistant Regional Director Rhoda T. Razon encouraged key personnel to work together to make R1AA Meet meaningful for the learner-athletes who are all very eager to compete after three years of hiatus.

Aside from the technical guidelines and forms for the different sports events, the different playing venues and the billeting schools for all the delegations were also presented.

More than 20 playing venues were identified within the city and outside for all 25 sports events.

Meanwhile, 25 elementary and secondary schools which will serve as billeting schools are also getting ready to host their assigned division delegations.

The opening ceremonies will be held at the Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation (VMUF) Event Center after a short parade of the delegations from the 14 schools division.

One of the highlights of the week-long R1AA is the Magical Day organized by the San Carlos City SDO, which will be conducted at the Don Federico Mandapat Sports Dome on May 15.

“We aim to make this year’s R1AA memorable and exciting to the learner-athletes,” Schools Division Superintendent of SDO San Carlos City Sheila Marie A. Primicias said.

More than 9,000 learner-athletes, coaches, divisions, and regional officials are expected to take part in this annual sports event.
